I feel like I’m in a parallel universe or traveled back to the time when we could have great leaders in this country and not be aware of how quickly we could lose them. I am ecstatic and terrified. One can’t function only feeling the latter, so I am just going to enjoy and be grateful.
That’s probably the best way to approach it. I’m an outside observer, being Canadian (even though I’m half-Texan).
I’m happy it’s not McCain/Palin and happy the next four years are not in the hands of the Republicans. Yet (yet), when any nation embraces and thus projects their expectations onto an enigmatic leader, the results (historically) are not guaranteed to be successful.
I wish Obama and the U.S. the best. There is a lot of potential good which can come of this.
I couldn't stay up (UK time) to see it announced… I made it to just before 2am & then passed out. Waking up at 5am to '101' txts from friends/family telling me the news was surreal.
I will admit that I wept at the news, but I also have that same "ecstatic and terrified" feeling, although I don't want to dwell on the negative side of this feeling too much. I'm really hoping for good things & change with Obama… I'm also aware that America is more than just one man… I too will be grateful for something like this happening in my lifetime.

Enigmatic? I thought he was Abe Lincoln reincarnated. Oh, right. Projection.

I enjoyed watching it – it was nice to see so many people celebrating the election. We’ve had more than enough bad news lately.
